Winger's Cabinets

Over the past 9 months I have helped create a little baby...  not the kind you are thinking ;)

  I had the opportunity to work closely with Tosha Weir of Winger's Cabinets and travel from Guelph ON down to Fort Erie ON photographing their work.  Their cabinets are not your ordinary run of the mill stuff. It is all quality materials and they truly stand behind their products! If you are looking for a new kitchen, bath vanity, walk-in closet, coffered ceiling, library or built in cabinets of ANY kind they are the people to call! We were in homes from the Millions down to the 200K's no job seemed too big or too small and they treat everyone with their trademark customer service!  Just some truly beautiful work! I was surfing the net looking at what's new in my business and found a very true article... I can't tell you how many times I have run into this ;)

What do Wedding Photographers Really Do?

It comes up a lot. Usually when I’m standing in the buffet line for dinner, or when there’s a slow time during the day when I’m not taking pictures.

“So you’re the photographer?”

“Yessir, I am, and I absolutely love it.”

“Well I don’t doubt it. You’re doing a great job out there. It must be great to work only one day a week!”

I hear similar stories from other wedding photographers. There seems to be a lot of misconceptions regarding what wedding photographers actually do all week. It’s perfectly understandable, after all, the only time most people see us working is at the wedding. So I thought it would be interesting to survey wedding photographers and discover what they really do besides take pictures every weekend. Hopefully it will help clear up some misconceptions and give some insight into what goes on behind the scenes after we leave the reception.

About 50 wedding photographers responded so it’s a fairly good sample size, and I’d be surprised if a larger response would yield a much different result.

If you loved period dramas like Downton Abbey and The Great Gatsby, you’re not the only one. Pop culture- inspired weddings are going to be popular this year. The key to making it work is attention to detail –to transport your guests back in time, fully embrace these romantic themes with our tips.
Downton Abbey: Aristocratic Charm

Make sure your wedding dress captures Downton Abbey’s fashion by choosing the right silhouette: look for a long-sleeve gown that is straight but flowing with a slight clinch at the waist. Because Victorian Britain was a conservative era, your gown should have longs sleeves but you can add a modern and romantic twist by making them sheer and lacy. Opt for a long traditional veil with a sparkling headpiece – the simplicity of your dress and veil with your headpiece will make your overall appearance exquisite.
For the venue, make sure you choose someplace that mirrors that elegance and grandeur of an English estate. A stone manor with a sprawling lawn exudes the right amount of rustic and class. You might even consider having lawn games like croquet for your guests to play during reception. With these ideas you are sure to have a decidedly English wedding that your guests will not forget.
The Great Gatsby: 20’s Glamor

The splendor of The Great Gatsby was in its spectacle so for your wedding, be sure to have plenty of feathers, champagne and brass. Choose a dress that is beaded and clings to your curves, a headpiece that wraps around your head like a turban and dramatic makeup that features a bold lip and a smoky eye.
For your venue, decorate liberally with a gold, black and red theme and use Art Deco-inspired patterns for your place cards. Consider having a tower of champagne glasses where bubbly is poured from the top. To elevate the glitz and glamor even more, have waiters were tails and white gloves and serve on a detailed silver platter. The 20’s may be over but you can make it roar again at your wedding.

The New Year is here, and with it comes a new year of wedding trends!
Luckily for you lovely readers, I had the opportunity to chat with some of the wedding industry’s most influential experts on the hot wedding trends we can expect to see a lot of in 2014.
If you’re a 2014 bride, take note, because here are the 5 trends that are going to rock the wedding world this year…

1. Brides in Color

Remember when your wedding dress color options were white, off-white and champagne? Well, those days are no more, because 2014 brides are rocking some serious color, particularly shades of pink and various metallics!

2. Mixed Metallics

Metallics aren’t just hot for wedding dresses, they’re huge for decor in 2014 too!

No, you’re not going to get shunned if you use Mason Jars in your big day. Honestly, I don’t think they’ll ever go out of style in my eyes, but in 2014, we’re going to start seeing a lot less of them and a lot less of the rustic chic weddings we’ve been seeing over the past few years…at least as we know them today.

5. Intimate Affairs

As weddings get more and more detailed, many couples are opting for smaller, more intimate affairs that enable them splurge on certain details while keeping costs affordable.

That does not necessarily mean cheaper weddings; a small wedding requires precise attention to detail and usually includes one or two wow factors. Families

I love these shoots! It was minus 11 out but we all braved the weather to get these shots!  What a fun bunch! They really were filled with JOY!  So nice to see a family develop and the love that surrounds them. I really have the best job in the whole world! :) The session ended with the cutest declaration after an hour of braving the weather, "Mummy, I'm just cold."  Too cute! :)

I know this is technically supposed to be my "off season" but I've still been lucky to be very busy. I was editing some family photos the other day when I said to myself... actually out loud because that what I do. ;)  I want photos like this of MY family!  I love candid shots and families when they start to interact and have fun make for some fantastic family photos!
