Last Photos

For those of you whom have not heard, I shot my last Wedding on Aug. 27th.
I am going to be working full-time now with my Husband doing all of his office managing/admin/everything Bob asks.... ;)

Being a photographer was a ton of fun in the beginning... but when you look at the amount of time it takes for one Wedding... it really is a huge job! For example, I would set aside Sundays for Engagement shoots and then would edit those for 3 hrs. Monday-Thursday I would edit a Wedding. Friday I would prep cameras, clear cards, charge batteries, print off and review paperwork and pack my camera bag for Saturday. Saturday... shoot wedding 8 hrs, no breaks.  7 straight days for one Wedding. Last summer from May-Sept (20 wks) I shot 15 Weddings and moved from Caledonia to Burlington.

This does not include Wedding Shows, meeting with Brides/Grooms to go over portfolio/paperwork. And marketing myself... Website, Blog, facebook page... ordering print material for shows and handouts to brides... you get the idea....

Not all Glamour! :D

I've always said, if I could just take the "pretty" shots I would still do it!!! A couple hours, just Bride and Groom photos on location.... LOVE THOSE!!! But alas... people want you for the whole day. ;)

So in my last post I thought I would post a few of my fav's from this year. Enjoy!

So that's it for me. See ya! I'm "tappin' out". xoxox

A few of my Favourite things.... that were done this year.

I am often asked after attending so many weddings "What were some of my favourite things?" Over the years there have been a ton! So I decided I would write a blog every year not just my favourite photos from the year but my favourite things! These are a few of my favourite things!

1.  A Champagne coloured Satin dress edits gorgeously!

2.  I love the "perform a dance" to get the new couple to kiss! "YMCA... Chicken dance..." so fun! Breaks up the dinner as well during quiet times.

3.  Pay attention to backgrounds. Your photos afterwards will be awesome if you look around at where you are getting married and choose a great spot! Doesn't have to be an expensive place to shoot, sometimes an alley covered in Graffiti can be the perfect spot!

4.  The "Shoe Game". For the guests who only know either the Bride or the Groom well it helps really show how their relationship developed (who made the first move) but also gives the guests a chance to also learn some fun new things about the couple.

5.  Sparklers Sparklers Sparklers. They take 5 minutes to do and everyone loves them!

6.  Bubbles for after the ceremony also make for really great shots! People will all be smiling, bubbles flying and it just looks so fun in photos! KIDS LOVE IT!!

7.  The "Reveal" is also a really great way to get some emotional photos. If you don't want your Groom to see you, how about a "reveal" with your Mom.. Dad or Bridesmaids?

8. When the couple makes the day "their own".   There are so many traditions where Weddings are concerned. It's really great when couples decide to do things the way they want. One of my favourites was a couple who met all of their guests inside the hall prior to the ceremony. They sang a song to each other then ran out the front door. The guests followed to a spot under a tree where the ceremony was to take place. The anticipation for what was going to happen next was palpable. It was great!

9. The Letters. Letters written to each other only to be read on the Wedding Day before you see each other. <3

10. Dessert. Yes dessert is one of my favourites but having a ICE CREAM TRUCK arrive after dinner is awesome!!
